Working in early learning centres

What early childhood educators and ECTs need to get verified, and how centre shifts work.
What you'll need
- Your ACECQA-approved qualification: Certificate III, Diploma or an ECT degree
- ECTs: teacher registration in your state (VIT, NESA, QCT, TRBWA, TRB SA, TRB Tas, TQI or TRB NT)
- Educators: a current working with children check for your state (WWCC, Blue Card, WWVP, RWVP or Ochre Card)
- ACECQA-approved first aid including anaphylaxis and asthma management (e.g. HLTAID012)
- Child protection (mandatory reporting) training
- Right to work, photo ID and the child safety declaration
Shifts
Centres are open long days, usually 6:30am to 6:30pm. Shifts are openers (from 6:30am), middles, closers (until 6:30pm) or full days. Set your earliest start under Availability; new educators start at 6:30am so you see openers.
Rooms
Choose the age groups you love working with in your profile. Centres book by room, and you're offered rooms you've chosen first.
What happens behind the scenes
- You're only offered shifts your verified qualification meets. If you complete a Diploma, upload it and update your profile.
